Winner of the Kathi Goertzen Award

Congratulations Emma Underwood MC21!

Emma won the Kathi Goertzen Award presented by Sigma Psi Sigma (SPS); the alumnae chapter of WSU AXOs. As the award winner Emma will receive $3,500 and recognition in SPS media. The financial award was made possible by the generosity of the Goertzen family as well as anonymous WSU AXO alumnae.

Goertzen’s family; including her husband and two daughters, felt that Emma best described Kathi’s courage and values. In particular, Rick loved her reference to her quote “I’m not one to hide” and that she wrote about how Kathi “fully faced the camera”. 

Other reviewers were impressed with Emma’s initiative to produce and direct the Coug-HER News and her goal to buy a car. 

Emma's LinkedIn shares some of the great work she's done while at WSU. We know Emma will use this award to live the values of Alpha Chi Omega; sharing her skills to uplift her sisters and to embrace the tenets of a Real. Strong. Woman.
